Joe and Buddy at Wading Pines Campground in Chatsworth in August 2015.
We spent two days at this campground. Joe fell and wrenched his back and I got bitten by chiggers. Still itching one month later! And that is all I have to say about this trip!
Quebec City!
Two days on the road, a beautiful but exhausting ride, and here we are ensconced at our campsite just outside of Quebec! The sun is out and we are ready for adventure!
October 4, 2015
Spent the afternoon in the old city, exploring and having lunch. KOA provides a shuttle (for a price) to the Place d'Armes. After a half hour ride, we arrived there and immediately walked a very short distance to the boardwalk overlooking the St. Lawrence River. A number of sailboats were out, enjoying the sunny day. We found the funicular, and then decided to eat lunch. Cafe Buade provided good wine and delicious salmon, but poor service. The price was reasonable until the taxes were added on. Still, not too bad. We walked down the many steps to the lower part of the city, explored a bit and then rode the funicular back up to Haut Quebec! The Queen Mary 2 was in port and the streets were mobbed. We decided to visit the two cathedrals nearby, Holy Trinity (Anglican) and Basilique-cathedrale Notre-Dame de Quebec. The former was the first Anglican cathedral built in Quebec and very plain. Notre Dame was ornate and quite beautiful.
We hopped back on our shuttle, tired, but feeling that we had thoroughly enjoyed our excursion, and came back to the campsite and our lonely dog. Thought for the day: Wish I had paid more attention in French Class!
